What version of Windows is my computer using?
Sometimes, like when downloading new softwares, or checking for compatibility with web browsers, it's important to know which version of Windows a computer is running. While the exact appearance will vary between the different versions, generally you can learn what version you have the following way:
- Go to your computer's settings.
- You can do this by hitting the Windows key on your keyboard, or clicking the start menu button (which will generally appear as a windows icon in the bottom corner). Then select where it says "settings". (In some older versions, you may have to click on "Control Panel" before you get to settings.)
- Once in settings, go to the System settings.
- Go to the "about" section. This will show your version of Windows (under "Window Specifications"), as well as the technical specifications of your computer.
