Find a specific legal statute in the Westlaw database

Statutes may also be called "code."

Log in to the Westlaw database.
Type your search terms in the large box at the top of the screen. You may search by the name of the act or its public law number. For example, let's search for the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

3. Do the search and on your results page, look on the right half of the page in the Statutes & Court Rules section for the item marked United States Code Annotated.

U.S. Code
The Webster University Library no longer has a subscription to the print edition of the U.S. Code. Instructions are provided for accessing U.S. federal statutes in the Westlaw database (Webster/Eden access).

Source for the text of new laws. Covers 104th Congress (1995-1996) to present.
U.S. Code (Office of the Law Revision Counsel)
Search or browse the U.S. Code for federal law. Includes helpful tools (e.g. Popular Name lookup) and explanation.

Information on legislative activities in the U.S. Congress. Access to the Congressional Record.
