Name of Creator: Gloria Meder Kast, class of 1941

 

Administrative/Biographical History: Gloria Ellen Meder was born January 17, 1920 and grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri. After graduating from Kirkwood High School, she attended Webster College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin and Spanish in 1941. Over the next few years she got married and taught Spanish and physical education at a number of high schools in the area. Gloria later earned an M.A. from San Jose State University and was librarian at American River College in California for many years. She also served as a visiting lecturer in library management on a number of occasions in South America and in 1977 was chosen to be a Fulbright scholar in Colombia. In her later years, she traveled the world as an international library consultant. Gloria Meder Kast died January 25, 2007

 

Scope/Content: The scrapbook contains numerous photographs, clippings from the Webster student newspaper as well as St. Louis area newspapers, athletic ribbons and patches, party favors, programs, invitations, dance cards, a few pieces of correspondence, graduation cards, etc. Most of the items concern activities at the college, but a few personal photographs of family and friends are included.
