Donate physical items to the Library
Webster University Library only accepts materials from faculty and staff at this time. The library may decline any gift that falls outside the scope of its collection policies.
All gifts accepted become the property of the library upon receipt. Gifts are not
accepted with conditions or restrictions. Materials not added to the collection may
be exchanged, disposed of, or given to other libraries. Most materials not added are
given to Better World Books which donates profits to literacy partners.
The library accepts donations of materials in the following categories:
- Materials that support the University's curriculum
- Materials that strengthen and complement the library's collection
- Books written by the Webster University faculty
- Titles that will replace missing items
The Gift Coordinator will evaluate the offer of materials, working with the subject
liaisons as appropriate. If the value of the gift potentially exceeds $1,000, the
library must have approval from the University’s Gift Acceptance Committee (GAC) prior
to acceptance. The GAC may require a title list for the proposed donation prior to
their approval.
Acknowledgement of Gift: The University Library acknowledges gifts with a letter indicating the number and
format of items added to the collection or transferred to an exchange or reselling
partner.
If you would like to donate to the library, please contact Heidi Vix at 314-246-6951
or heidivix29@webster.edu.
Other options for donating materials: Consider donating to Better World Books. Drop-off locations are all around the metro area. Donated books are sold online to help raise funds for non-profit literacy organizations for teaching kids, supporting families, building schools and filling libraries.
Donating items to the Archives
For all donations and transfers, contact the University Archivist in advance.
Donors such as alumni or members of the general public with historical materials for
the Archives will be required to sign a Deed of Gift Form. More information can be found here.
If the value of the gift potentially exceeds $1,000, the University Archivist must have approval from the University’s Gift Acceptance Committee prior to acceptance.
University records transferred from an office or department do not require a signed Deed of Gift Form but must be approved in advance by the University Archivist.
Acknowledgement of Gift: The University Archives acknowledges gifts with a letter indicating the number and
format of items added to the collection or transferred to an exchange or reselling
partner.
If you would like to donate to the Archives, please contact Jonathan Majors at 314-246-7818
