Top Ten Things You Might Not Know about the Webster University Library

  1. If we don't have the book or article you need, we may be able to get it for you. We can send articles and book chapters to students, faculty, and staff outside the U.S., and books, articles, and A/V materials to students, faculty, and staff in the U.S. For more information, see:
  2. We welcome suggestions for improvements to our services and requests for purchase of materials. Students can make suggestions by using our online suggestion form or the suggestion box at the front desk; faculty can submit materials requests through their departments to their library liaison and may use the online form or suggestion box at the front desk for general requests.
  3. You may already know that current students, faculty, and staff at St. Louis and Missouri campuses can borrow books from one of the 60+ libraries in the MOBIUS consortium. But did you know that you can have the books delivered to the MOBIUS library that's most convenient for you? There may be a library closer to your home or office than Emerson--check the list of MOBIUS libraries for options.
  4. In response to requests from users, we've expanded our popular reading collection. Look for it in its new space immediately across from the front desk. Many of the MOBIUS libraries also collect fiction, so if we still don't have what you're looking for, check the MOBIUS catalog.
  5. We offer a Faculty Research Service to assist Webster University faculty with research for publication or classes and institutional research.
  6. Webster faculty at any U.S. campus may reserve videos for use in the classroom. For more information, see our DVD and Videotape Reservations page.
  7. Faculty members at any Webster campus may use the eReserves service to post course syllabi, articles, web links, and other information for their students. For more information or to request an account, see the library's eReserves page.
  8. It may be easier to find an available computer in the library than you think! While the eCommons and Café are often busy, there are often computers available in our Lower level near the north elevator. In addition, the computers in the eClassroom on the first floor are available when the room is not being used for a class.
  9. We have research guides and tutorials available to help you use library resources for your research.
  10. We are here to help you! For assistance with using library resources or doing research, call the Reference desk at 314-968-6950 or toll free at 800-985-4279, or use our Ask a Librarian service. For questions about borrowing or obtaining materials, contact the front desk at 314-968-6952 or toll free at 800-985-4279.
