Circulation services

Who may borrow from the Library?

Webster University and Eden Theological Seminary faculty, staff and students have full borrowing privileges.

A valid identification card is necessary to check out library materials.

  • Webster University students, faculty, and staff can obtain ID cards and semester validation stickers at the Student Services Office in the University Center.
  • Eden students, faculty, and staff should see Eden ID Card Procedure for Students .

As a courtesy, students who present a validated fall semester ID card, or their paid receipt, to the 1st floor Service Desk may be granted borrowing privileges through the summer.

Others who may borrow

Loan periods

  • Books
    • Undergraduates -- 6 weeks
    • Graduate students -- 6 weeks
    • Faculty -- 1 semester
    • Staff -- 6 weeks
    • Special Patrons -- 2 weeks
  • eBooks - range from 4 to 24 hours depending on the title.
  • Materials on reserve - please see In-house reserves page for information.
  • Audio-visual equipment, films, videos, laser discs and CD's - are checked out for 3 days only unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Music scores, slides, audio cassette tapes, and multimedia materials - circulate for 14 days.

Non-circulating materials

Reference books, periodicals, indexes, archival materials, and rare books do not circulate.

Late fees

  • Regular collection books .15 per day
  • Curriculum books .15 per day
  • Interlibrary Loan .15 per day
  • Reserve Books (hourly) .25 per hour
  • Reserve Books (daily) 1.00 per day
  • Audio-visual materials .50 per day

Lost or damaged

Replacement costs and a $10 processing fee apply for lost materials.

Renewing materials

Books may be renewed by phone or in person at the 1st floor Service Desk. Patrons may place holds on books in circulation, requesting that they be notified when the books are returned. A book which carries a current hold for another patron may not be renewed to the original patron.

You may also renew items by viewing your library account in the library catalog.

Viewing your borrowing record online

You may view a list of the items you have checked out or on hold and renew items yourself by viewing your library account in the library catalog.
