Services for alumni
Resources
Facility
The Eden-Webster Library System includes the Webster University Library and Eden Theological Seminary's Luhr Library. Library services are described for graduates of these schools. Information about other alumni benefits is available from the Webster Alumni Office and the Eden Alumni Office.
Borrowing from the libraries
Free library cards are available to Webster graduates from the Webster University Library and Eden graduates from the Luhr Library. These cards enable you to check out books and some audio-visual materials from both libraries. Videos, DVDs, periodicals, and certain other materials cannot be borrowed but may be used in the library where they are located. All materials are listed in our library catalog.
To apply for a card:
- Webster graduates should visit the 1st floor Service Desk at Webster University Library. All requests must be verified with the Alumni Office during business hours Monday through Friday. For more information, please contact the 1st floor Service Desk at 314-968-6952.
- Eden graduates should visit the Circulation Desk of the Luhr Library, preferably during daytime hours. For more information, contact the Luhr Library Circulation Desk at 314-252-3130.
Access to electronic resources
Alumni can be logged in to most electronic resources such as online periodical databases when visiting on campus at either library. Due to contractual agreements, off-campus access to online databases is not available unless you are a member of the Research Fellows Program (Webster only). Eden alumni may consult with the Luhr Reference Librarian about paid subscriptions to the electronic databases published by the American Theological Library Association.
Use of the Libraries' facilities
Alumni are welcome to walk in and enjoy many of the facilities at either library. Please note that current Webster/Eden students, faculty, and staff have priority in the use of available computers, study and listening/viewing rooms. For more information, see Webster's Facility Information page.
Getting research assistance at the libraries
The librarians at the Webster University Library and Eden Theological Library are available to offer assistance in answering brief reference questions and showing alumni how to use electronic resources. In-depth research assistance and instruction is not available. For more information, contact the Webster University Library Reference Department at 314-968-6950 1-800-985-4279 or the Eden Library Reference Desk at 314-252-3134 or 1-877-961-3336.
