How do I...?

First make sure that you know the title of the journal and the date of publication for the article you want to find. See our page on how to read a citation for more information.

Search the Journal/Magazine/Newspaper List using the title of the journal to determine if we have the journal and where to find it. For example, if your article appeared in the August 1993 issue of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, you would search using the journal title and obtain the following results:

This tells you that we have the journal both in print and online. "Webster Periodicals" indicates that we have the journal in print at the Emerson library dating back to 1965 (if the article was at the Eden library, it would say "Eden Periodicals'). Beginning with 1987, articles from this journal are also available online in the PsycArticles database.

You may access the online article in one of two ways. You may click the "Look Up Article" link and fill in the information about the article you need on the form that appears. Another option is to click the link to the database, and then search the database using information (e.g., title of article, author) from your citation. If the library does not have the article in print or online, you may request the article as described in How do I Request an Article. Note that Webster students, faculty, and staff at U.S. extended and international campuses may also request copies of articles that the library has in print but not online.
