All areas/rooms of the Library
- Smoking is prohibited.
- Pets are not permitted unless they are service or support animals.
- Food is allowed in the Cyber Café only or in the Conference Room in conjunction with sponsored events. Covered drinks are allowed throughout the library.
- Webster and Eden students, faculty, and staff have priority in the use of the computers located throughout the building.
- Filming/Photographing in the library (see policy below)
- Visitors who wish to do research in the library are welcome. See our Services to the General Public page for more information.
- Webster University reserves the right to deny the use of a requested location due to security issues, invasion of privacy, safety concerns, scheduling, or other logistical issues. A submitted request should not be construed as a guarantee.
Filming/taking photographs in the library
- You must get permission to film or take photographs in the library. A request form is available at the Service and Reference Desks. Requests should be submitted prior to the filming/photography date.
- Do not interfere with the use of the library by other library patrons.
- Do not enter a study room, classroom or conference room that is occupied, unless this has been prearranged with the users of that room.
- Do not film or take pictures of other library patrons without their permission.
- Request permission to use any additional lighting.
- Do not move library furniture or equipment without permission.
- Do not block stairwells, aisles, doorways and other areas of public use with tripods, cords and other photographic equipment block.
- Keep conversations and noise while taking the pictures or filming to a minimum.
Computer use policies
- Current students, faculty, and staff of Webster University and Eden Theological Seminary have priority in the use of the computers throughout the Library.
- Unaffiliated individuals are welcome to use the computers unless they are needed by someone from Webster/Eden.
- Computers in the Cyber Café are restricted to current Webster and Eden students, faculty, and staff with activated I.D. cards after normal library hours.
- All users, whether from Webster/Eden or unaffiliated individuals, are expected to abide by the policies of Webster University regarding computer use on campus:
Library Conference Room (Rm. 120)
- Reservations for the Library Conference Room (Rm. 120) may be made by using the Request for use Library Conference room or by calling the 1st floor Service Desk at 314-968-6952.
- USE: Restricted to University events.
- HOURS: Used only during normal opening hours of the library.
- POLICIES: All Webster University policies and regulations must be observed. Violation will subject the applicant to University judicial action, possible legal liability, and risk the immediate closing of the event.
- SAFETY: In the interest of personal safety of guests of the University, students, faculty, and staff, all reservations are approved on the assumption that the facility will not be used in excess of the normal seating capacity and will be used as it is normally equipped. It is further agreed that the posted safety and fire prevention regulations will be followed.
- NO SMOKING: In accordance with University policy.
- EXITS: All aisles leading to exit doors must be kept clear and unobstructed. During the period of use, no required exit door may be fastened so that the door cannot be opened readily from the inside. Required exits serving the room shall be adequately lighted when the room is occupied.
- FOOD: The preparing of food in the Library is prohibited. Events may utilize Webster University Dining Services (Sodexho 314-968-6902), or another licensed caterer. Self-catering is also permitted, however, service of alcoholic beverages is only permitted with a licensed caterer/bartender. Approval of alcoholic beverages must be granted by the Reservations Coordinator PRIOR to event. Please close the Library Conference Room's doors when serving food.
- PARKING: Please instruct non-University attendees to utilize the Garden Park Plaza parking garage.
- COMPUTER: Additional hardware or software cannot be installed at the instructor station. (Click here for list of available hardware and software.) If you have additional needs, you may bring a laptop, which can be plugged in at the instructor's lectern to display using the overhead projector.
- NOISE: Sounds that are audible outside of the Library Conference Room are not acceptable.
- CANDLES: Use of candles is prohibited in the LCR.
- FURNITURE: Furniture (27-5'x2½' tables and 100 chairs) is provided in the LCR and use of outside furniture is prohibited in the LCR unless special permission is granted by the reservations coordinator.
Group Study Rooms
- May be reserved by calling the Service desk at 314-968-6952 or using the online reservations form.
- You may only have 3 reservations for group study rooms at a time.
- Except when previously reserved, all 18 rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Are reservable only for groups (2 or more people). Patrons who are not with a group and who request an especially quiet area should be directed to the fourth floor.
- Only Webster University affiliated users (students, faculty, alumni, and staff) are able to book rooms if part of a group.
- A person studying solo may see an empty group study room and use it if it's not booked, but may not reserve it.
eClassroom (Rm. 110)
- eClassroom may be reserved by calling the Reference Desk at 314-968-6950.
- Instructional sessions taught by the library have first piority in the use of the eclassroom.
- eClassroom may be reserved by other faculty and staff no more than 5 days in advance.
- Food is prohibited.
Listening/viewing
- Items from the library's collection as well as those on reserve or produced for courses may be viewed in these rooms.
- Room 124 and the AV carrels are available for use on a first come/first served basis. Current Eden and Webster students, faculty, and staff may reserve the use of Rooms 125 and 127 by either calling the 1st floor Service Desk 314‑968-6952 or using our online Group Study Reservations Form
- Students needing to view /listen to items on Course Reserve have priority over use for recreational purposes.
- Eden and Webster students, faculty, and staff have priority over library visitors.
- Public users, after presenting a valid photo ID card to Library staff at the 1st floor Service, may enjoy the privilege of using the listening/viewing rooms only to view items from the library's collections.
Curriculum collection
- The Curriculum Library is available for individual quiet study except when it is in use by the School of Education.
- Use of this area for classes must be scheduled in advance by the Reference Desk at 314-968-6950.
Cyber Café
- After normal library hours, access is restricted to Webster University and Eden Theological students, faculty, and staff with an activated ID card.
- Webster University students, faculty and staff may obtain IDs at the University Center front desk. New ID's are ready to access the Cyber Cafe when you receive them. ID's printed before August 1, 2009 must be activated at the Office of Public Safety.
- When the library is closed, you may enter through either the Edgar Road Cyber Café entrance (inside the vestibule) or the upper quad entrance (exterior) by swiping a valid, activated ID card.
- The general public may enjoy the privilege of using our Cyber Café while the library is open.
