Copy Card Guide

Step-by-Step Process

A copy card is required for printing and copying in Emerson.

  • Copy Cards cost $0.50 each, but can be recharged/reused multiple times.

  • Black and white printing and copying cost $0.10 per 8.5" x 11" page. Legal paper costs $0.20 per page.

  • Minimum purchase is $1.00. Five dollar and ten dollar bills may be used, but no change will be given.

How to Acquire a Copy Card

  1. Find a copy card machine. They are located on:

    • The second floor of Emerson Library in the CyberCafe near the quad vestible.

    • The second floor of Emerson Library in the eCommons. If you come through the main entrance, go up the stairs, turn left and pass all the computer stations, you will see the machine next to eCommons Print station. The area has a sign posted on the divider reading "Copy/Print Area".

  2. Press the upside down triangle button.

  3. Insert a $1, $5, or $10 bill into the cash slot (No Change Given).

  4. A card with $0.50 will be dispensed near the bottom of the machine (Your card is ready for use now if you only placed $1 in the CopyCard Machine).

  5. Take the card and place it in the area marked with the yellow arrow.

    • This will place the remaining dollar value onto your card.
    • You must complete this step if you used a $5 or $10 bill and want the remaining value added to your card.

  6. Take your card once the monetary value has been placed on it.

How to Use a Copy Card when Printing from the CyberCafe or eCommons Print Station

  1. Place your copy card in the copy card reader.

  2. On the computer next to it (eCommons/Cafe Print Station), choose your print job by clicking on it.

  3. Click the large "Print" button at the bottom of the screen.

  4. A confirmation box will appear asking if the monetary sum to be deducted from the copy card is correct. If correct, choose "Yes" and your print job will begin printing.

  5. Press the ESC button on the copy card reader to eject your card.

  6. Retrieve your printed documents and copy card.

How to Use a Copy Card when Directly Copying/Printing from a Copier

  1. Insert your copy card into the copy card reader connected to the copier.

  2. Place your document in the copier and press the green start button.
  3. $0.10 will be deducted from your card for every copy you make.
  4. When finished, press the ESC button to eject your card.
  5. Retrieve your source and printed documents and copy card.
