There are public computers on the main floor and the upper floor of the Luhr Library. Eden Seminary and Webster University students, faculty, and staff have priority use of the computers. The general public may use the computers for searching the Eden-Webster Library System catalog and for other research purposes. The computers are not to be used for entertainment (games) or for illegal or inappropriate activities, including the viewing of materials that may be offensive to others.
Computers on the main floor provide access to the Eden-Webster Library System catalog, to the Internet, to selected CD-ROM products, including BibleWorks, and to MS Office software.
Most main floor computers are connected to a networked printer. Printing is currently free to students. Other users are asked to pay $.10/page at the front desk. Photocopying is available via a coin and bill-operated photocopier for $.10/page.
The computers on the top floor of the Luhr Library are set up to search the library catalog and do not provide general access to the Internet, to the MS Office products or to a printer.
There is coin-operated reader/printer on the main floor of the library that handles both microfilm and microfiche. Please bring dimes if you intend to print microform materials. Copies of articles are $.10/page.
A wireless network is available in the Luhr Library. The wireless network access points are located on the main floor of the library, making the signal stronger on the main floor. A wireless-ready laptop or a wireless networking PC card installed in a laptop is necessary to access the network. No password is required to access the network.
Electrical outlets can be found in various places in the library, including near the tables in the north and south alcoves on the main and upper floors. Eden Seminary students may borrow laptop computers at the Circulation Desk for use within the Luhr Library only. Wireless network cards can also be borrowed for use in the library with library-owned laptops or with personally-owned laptops.
The Webster University Library Cyber Café is a 24-hour facility featuring computers, printers, Jazzman's Café coffee/snack bar, and vending machines. Hours for the Jazzman's Café food service may vary throughout the semester. Food is restricted to the Cyber Café although covered drinks may be taken anywhere in the library.
A Webster University ID is required to gain access to the Cyber Café when the Webster Library is closed. Eden students, faculty and staff may obtain a Webster University ID card from the front desk of the University Center at 175 Edgar Road (south of the Webster University Library) by presenting their current Eden ID and a government-issued photo ID. After receiving the university ID, ask for directions to the Webster University Center Public Safety Office, where the Webster ID will be programmed for access to the Cyber Café. When the Webster University Library is closed, access to the 24-hour Cyber Café is through either the library vestibule on Edgar Road or through the upper quad entrance by swiping the university ID.
