Top Ten Things You Might Not Know about the Webster University Library

  1. If we don't have the book or article you need, we may be able to get it for you. We can send articles and book chapters to students, faculty, and staff outside the U.S., and books, articles, and A/V materials to students, faculty, and staff in the U.S. For more information, see:
  2. We welcome requests for purchase of materials. Students can make suggestions by using the Ask a Librarian service or the suggestion box at the front desk; faculty can submit requests through their departments to their library liaison.
  3. You may already know that current students, faculty, and staff at St. Louis and Missouri campuses can borrow books from one of the 60+ libraries in the MOBIUS consortium. But did you know that you can have the books delivered to the MOBIUS library that's most convenient for you? There may be a library closer to your home or office than Emerson--check the list of MOBIUS libraries for options.
  4. We collect many popular films on DVD and VHS to support the film studies curriculum. These films are available for 3-day checkout. A small sampling of recent popular films includes: Akeelah and the Bee, Glory Road, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Illusionist, Kill Bill, Lady in the Lake, Lord of the Rings, Lost in Translation, Motorcycle Diaries, and Ocean's Eleven
  5. Because we need to dedicate our book budget toward purchasing materials that support the curriculum, the library does not have an extensive collection of fiction for recreational reading. However, many of the libraries in MOBIUS collect fiction, and you can request these books just like you request research materials. Look for your favorite authors in the MOBIUS catalog.
  6. We offer a Faculty Research Service to assist Webster University faculty with research for publication or classes and institutional research.
  7. Webster faculty at any U.S. campus may reserve videos for use in the classroom. For more information, see our DVD and Videotape Reservations page.
  8. Faculty members at any Webster campus may use the eReserves service to post course syllabi, articles, web links, and other information for their students. For more information or to request an account, see the library's eReserves page.
  9. Article Linker is not a dead end! When you find an Article Linker icon in a database search result, this means that the database you are using does not have full-text for the article you are seeking. However, you can click on the Article Linker icon to see if the full-text is in one of the other databases the library subscribes to; if it's not, the Article Linker screen provides links to forms you can use to request the article.
  10. We are here to help you! For questions about borrowing or obtaining materials, contact the front desk at 314-968-6952 or toll free at 800-985-4279.
